Jack and Bobby

Jack and Bobby:

Back in I think 2005 I used to try out alot of new tv shows to see what they were like and i stumbelled across a show called Jack and Bobby. After i had read a bit about it i thought it seemed interesting so i tried to find an episode so i could see what it was like, i finally found the pilot and after watching it i was amazed at how awesome it was, i dont even why it was so good to me all i knew is that it was worth continuing to watch.

Jack and Bobby tells the story of 2 brothers raised by a single mother, its a story of growing up, trying to find your way, searching for your identity but its kinda hard to describe this tv series because theres so much in it. It’s not some ordinary TV-Series about the typical american family. Its a clever piece of television which shows us how these two brothers think and what they stand for.

I have seen plenty of TV Series and Movies about people trying to find their way in life, basically about people who havnt figured it out yet but i think this show is the first in which succeed in capturing it all in such a unique, intelligent and sensitive way without getting melodramtic. There something about it that when ever  watch an episode i feel like watching more and more, it is just an outstading show that unfortunately was cancelled after 1 season.

There is also some great acting in the show as well. Christine Lahti (who plays Grace, the mother) is brilliant.

The character are also really well crafted, Jack and Bobby is the story of two brothers and their mother Grace. Jack is the oldest of the brothers at 16, he is a nice, good looking and popular guy. Even though he is only 16 he is a very responsible and grown up person. I guess you could say that he cares about being accepted and to fit in.

Then there is Bobby, he’s 13 and he’s preety much the opposite of jack, he’s shy, calm, sensitive and he dosnt care that much about what people think about him. growing up isnt all that easy for Bobby as it is for Jack. Beside the way that the brothers differ there is a clear and great understanding between them both, and a clear bond.

a quote from Jack and Bobby:

“Grace used to say Jack and Bobby were like two sides of a coin. Without Bobby, Jack might never have learned compassion. Without Jack, Bobby might never have gained strength”.

If and when you get the chance to watch this show you wont be let down.

Mean Creek

Mean Creek:

Mean Creek is a 2004 movie directed by Jacob Aaron Estes and starring an all teenager cast which include, Rory Cukin, Ryan Kelley, Scott Mechlowicz, Trevor Morgan, Josh Peck and Carly Scroeder.

There are many great things about Mean Creek, the writing is excellent, the directing is superbly done but the acting is so well done it amazed me the first time I saw it, i was blown away by how consistently good all the young actors were in their parts. The subject matter of mean creek is extreame and dramatic which i think is another reason why i was so blown away by the acting.

Basically what the plot intales is about Sam a shy student who is being bullied by a much bigger student named George, Sam tells his older brother Rocky about what happened and Rocky and his friends Clyde and Marty cook up a plan to make george pay and believe me this movie is worth seeing.
